Fleis Education Foundation Auction Underway

The annual Ed & Irene Fleis Education Foundation Auction fundraiser is underway and closes Sunday, Nov. 23.

The Foundation has awarded over $840,000 in scholarships to more than 400 students with roots from Leelanau County.

“This year’s auction looks to be the biggest ever,” Larry Fleis, fundraiser chair, said in a statement. “So many generous families and businesses have donated items.”

There are more than 250 auction items with something for everybody, including many local gift certificates. Travel packages include trips to Portugal, St. Croix, Mackinac Island, Lake Leelanau, and Florida; home essentials like artwork and kitchen; shop tools; items for the kids and family outdoor adventures, featured items for women and men; casino packages, food items, beverage baskets, and gift cards.

Sports fans will have a great opportunity to bid on 45-yard line seats at the Detroit Lions home game with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Dec. 4 and will also be able to bid on some Lions’ posters/programs and bobblehead keepsakes of Hutchinson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Jared Goff.

There are third row, mid rink seats for the #1 Michigan State vs #3 Michigan hockey game plus a parking pass and U-M, MSU basketball and football tickets as well as golf and other outdoor activities for bidding.

The fund is still accepting donations, sponsors, and auction items. For more information on donating an auction item or gift certificate, contact Jeanette Thurow at 231.578.5135. For general information on gifting, contact Larry Fleis at 616.450.5501.
