Leelanau’s League Of Women Voters Hosts Forum With Longtime Elections Director
Sept. 28, 2020
The League of Women Voters of Leelanau County, a nonpartisan organization, invites the public to join a virtual forum with guest speaker Christopher Thomas, who is recently retired after 36 years as Michigan's Director of Elections.
In his presentation — Election 2020 - Voting Rights Reforms in Action — Thomas will discuss implications of recent voting reforms and how these support voters. Thomas chairs the 22-member Election Modernization Advisory Committee to advance election reform, established by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. He is also a fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that combines ideas from both Republican and Democratic parties to address the nation’s key challenges.
The forum is at noon, Wednesday, October 7, with opportunity for questions following the presentation.
