The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the April 19 to May 2 call reports.

6:02pm 04/19/22 Neighbor Elmwood Township, Neighbor is yelling at her and told her to "just wait until this summer," upset over a complaint filed with the township. Was advised to continue documenting contact and if it continues she will call back.

8:38am 04/20/22 Larceny S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Purse stolen from car possibly from gas station or at grocery store.

12:54pm 04/20/22 Larceny Cedar, Catalytic converter stolen.

1:27pm 04/20/22 Harassment Elmwood Township, Went for a walk out of sub to TART trail. He follows her and waits at the trail for her to finish her walk.

12:17am 04/21/22 Suspicious Vehicle Northport, Small sedan, female driver is outside the vehicle doing something. Female in the back seat with a dog, trying to wake her up, the female will move along.

9:30pm 04/21/22 Traffic Violation W. Traverse Hwy., Large white van weaving around and driving slowly, breaking sporadically.

9:32pm 04/21/22 Traffic Stop Suttons Bay, Vehicle all over the roadway with no taillights. Vehicle stopped at M-22 and Race Street.

7:06am 04/22/22 Unknown Problem Cedar, Male slumped over wheel. Priority 1. Just a traveler catching a nap before going home.

9:19pm 04/22/22 Info Elmwood Twp. Neighbor is having a huge brush burn 500 feet from his house. He doesn't want anything done but would like an officer to drive by and just acknowledge it. There is a fire there.

10:10pm 04/22/22 Suspicious Vehicle Lake Leelanau, Caller reporting a white 4-door truck in yard; called in about a week ago. Her nephew just texted to tell her the people in the pickup were given permission to hunt raccoon and coyote on the farm. They are satisfied with this and no longer need law enforcement.

11:12pm 04/22/22 Suspicious Incident Elmwood Township, East of caller’s property, toward TART trail, someone is running a chainsaw; concerned cutting on private property without permission.

4:16am 04/23/22 Overdose Leelanau Township, Caller statement: chest pain. Priority 1.

4:23pm 04/23/22 Motor Vehicle Collision, Suttons Bay, parked car. Black Audi and white Land Rover.

4:37pm 04/23/22 Fire Tech Treat Farm Trail, About halfway down the dune at treat farm. No medical issues; good battery on the cell phone. Starting down to subjects. NPS07 has made contact. Subjects back at the top of the hill.

6:34pm 04/23/22 Misc. Juvenile, Suttons Bay, 45-26 called out with a young male juvenile possibly injured from a skateboard crash.

10:11pm 04/23/22 Traffic Violation S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Following a grey Toyota "ping ponging" from side-to-side varying speeds.

12:55am 04/24/22 Harassment Elmwood Township, Landlord is here shutting off power and being belligerent. Two adults and three kids reside there. Reporting party states there is no eviction notice.

12:12pm 04/24/22 Motor Vehicle Collision Leland, Trailer came lose and hit a parked Toyota Highlander.

4:15pm 04/24/22 Larceny Leelanau Township, Wallet was stolen out of her car at the State Park/lighthouse.

4:33pm 04/24/22 Traffic Violation Solon Township, Red Saturn driving down the middle of the road.

7:03pm 04/24/22 Family Trouble Suttons Bay, Ran away from home with two daughters, did not feel safe.

12:35pm 04/25/22 Citizen Assist Centerville Township, 18-month-old son locked in bedroom. Can’t get through window. Child has been freed.

10:43pm 04/25/22 Grass Fire E. Duck Lake Rd., Looks like a tall fire on a hill; will be out investigating. People just having a campfire.

2:24am 04/26/22 911 Hangup E. Woolsey Lake Rd., Another call from the Woolsey Airport payphone, nothing but static on the line and then the phone disconnected. Made a test call from payphone and it did not even go through.

4:54am 04/26/22 Sick Person S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller statement: hurts everywhere. Priority 1.

12:29pm 04/26/22 Harassment Elmwood Township, Landlord has turned off power again, ongoing problem. Reporting unlawful entry at his property. She is in the process of moving out and just wants to be able to complete it unincumbered.

1:52pm 04/26/22 Allergies Suttons Bay, Allergic reaction to vanilla. Priority 1.

6:22pm 04/26/22 Leave Scene Of Motor Vehicle Collision S. Schomberg Rd., Came upon accident, does not look good. Rollover. En route to registered owner’s residence in Grand Traverse County.

8:32pm 04/26/22 Sick Person Leland, Sick person walk-in at the fire department.

11:15pm 04/26/22 Disorderly Suttons Bay, Two individuals at bar causing trouble, reporting party was trying to only threaten to call 911 but it accidentally went through, sounds like the owner was having a verbal disagreement with these gentlemen and the reporting party advised he heard there was another similar instance earlier tonight at another establishment. Reporting party advised situation has since calmed and the individuals have left. Made contact; everything is fine now.

7:34am 04/27/22 Traffic Violation S. Lake Leelanau Dr., Bus swerving all over the road.

10:15am 04/27/22 Motor Vehicle Collision Suttons Bay, White KIA sportage into tree. Single female, minor injuries. 45-24 made contact with son who will be en route to scene.

1:18pm 04/27/22 Welfare Check Cedar, Welfare check on small boy 5 or 6, he is outside playing but reporting party doesn’t think his parents are home.

10:58am 04/28/22 Animal At Large Maple City Rd., 45-20 called out with a cow in the road. Cow is back on the property no longer on the road but still outside of the pasture. Owners are there now.

5:53pm 04/28/22 Larceny N. West-Bay Shore GTB07 called enroute for a possible larceny. Subject is going to go back and pay.

7:32pm 04/28/22 Misc. Juvenile Leelanau Township, Kids fishing in the pond at the Sportsman Club but it’s not technically open until Saturday. Kids advised private pond and no fish were kept.

8:03pm 04/28/22 Gunshots E. Cherry Bend Rd., There are 100 rounds of gunshots across the street, it has been moving up the street. They are on the move and it is troublesome. Second caller from the DeYoung natural area and Dalzell Road. Do hear gunshots; out with shooters and they have a proper range.

5:01pm 04/29/22 Suspicious Vehicle E. Traverse Hwy. A rusty trailer with building/roofing supplies has been left on his property. Someone has apparently mistaken his property for someone else's. Concerned that a crew might show up and start tearing his roof apart. Suggested he put signs on the trailer so whoever comes back realizes they have made a mistake.

9:46pm 04/29/22 Suicide Attempt Call came in from friend. Told he wanted to say goodbye and that he was going to kill himself, GTCO advised. Per Grand Traverse, confirmed the hotel he is staying at and are responding there.

10:03pm 04/29/22 Disorderly Turtle Creek Casino, Security has a male pinned to the ground but still fighting. Ambulance and three deputies are responding from GTCO.

10:27pm 04/29/22 Suspicious Incident E. Cedar St., Reporting party hears someone yelling in the parking lot of The Cove, possible in a dark pickup truck, reporting party is concerned because of the recent bomb threat and thinks it may be suspicious. In the area. All is clear and quiet, no report.

5:00pm 04/30/22 Grass Fire Bramen Hill, Husband sees smoke towards the Sportsman Club, close to structures and spreading into woods. Winds: SE @15mph. One acre of grass and forest burning. Switch communications to Fire Ops1. Fire mostly knocked down. Continuing hotspot extinguishing. Fire is completely out.

9:51pm 04/30/22 OWI E. Traverse Hwy., On sobrieties. In custody.

5:59am 05/01/22 Structure Fire S. French Rd., Fire on the porch, unsure what is on fire. Husband is putting it out now. There was a porch fire, it appears to be out at this time, need a chainsaw and a water can for now.

4:12pm 05/01/22 Noise Suttons Bay, Loud music can be heard throughout the neighborhood. There is a small gathering of friends and the music is at an appropriate level. They have been asked to keep it neighborly.

9:26am 05/02/22 OWI S. Cedar Rd. and E. White Rd., Silver Jeep speeding and driving recklessly down the road. Vehicle continued toward Cedar on Fouch Rd. Second call: Blew the stop sign at Fouch and Alpine Roads, continued west on Alpine to 651. Went into the field at the end of Fouch and Alpine and has damage to the front of vehicle. On Gallivan, vehicle went into the field and took down a newly installed electric fence. Individual states he is a type 1 diabetic, he has slurred speech and is disoriented. 45-07 on sobrieties. In custody.

12:04pm 05/02/22 Overdose Suttons Bay, Caller statement: too much alcohol. Priority 1.

12:33pm 05/02/22 Leave Scene of Motor Vehicle Collision, S. Cedar Rd., and E. Traverse Hwy., black Chevy truck. Son was hit by another vehicle that took off.

12:43pm 05/02/22 Traffic Violation S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Reporting party is being followed by a silver Nissan that is tailgating him and shaking his fist at him after the vehicle cut the reporting party off.

3:50pm 05/02/22 Runaway Juvenile Suttons Bay Township, Left over an hour ago on his bicycle. He is 12 years old and said he was going to run away. He wanted to go to Traverse City to sell Pokemon cards. Reporting party called back and advised she found him at Herman Park.

7:48pm 05/02/22 Animal at Large S. Center Hwy., 3 or 4 cars stopped on the road trying to catch a dog. Passerby has the dog. Owner will come get it from them.
