A Sleeping Bear Dunes Cautionary Tale, Courtesy Of Popular British Influencers
“Down is optional,” warns a sign at the Sleeping Bear Dunes overlook on Pierce Stocking Drive, discouraging visitors from attempting the steep, 450-foot descent to the shores of Lake Michigan. Josh & Jase, a pair of well-known British influencers and YouTubers who are currently visiting northern Michigan, saw that sign and decided to take the plunge anyway.
They had regrets.
“We Tried One of America’s Toughest Dune Climbs… (GONE WRONG)” reads the title of a Josh & Jase video posted to YouTube on Thursday afternoon. The 27-minute video tells the tale of the pair’s recent visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes, their desire to take on the 450-foot Pierce Stocking Drive climb, and their ultimate buyer’s remorse over that decision. While the duo didn’t have to call the Coast Guard for a rescue – a not-entirely-uncommon occurrence at this particular site – they didn’t come away recommending the experience.
“I don’t wish that on my worst enemy,” Josh says in the video.
