Fig’s Will Reopen Inside TC’s State Street Market (But First, A Pop-Up Brunch This Sunday At Little Traverse Inn)

Leelanau said goodbye to longtime local favorite Fig's Breakfast & Lunch when it closed its Lake Leelanau location on September 11, but the Leelanau Ticker heard yesterday that there's a new culinary venture for owners Bryon and Jaimee Figueroa. Chef Bryon says he just had the final inspection and “the official green light” to open a new Fig’s location in Traverse City's State Street Market at 329 East State Street.

Its hours will shadow those of MiddleCoast Brewing Company/Market Bar inside the State Street Market, “so as of now it will not be a breakfast/brunch spot. We will rewrite the menu every day, source locally, and offer bar snacks, and lots of ethnic foods, including tacos and Thai.”

He adds that as a vendor “in this setting, we are only handling food, not maintaining a building and running service. So, we are really doubling down on the layers of flavor.”

Figueroa says the new Fig’s inside the State Street Market is set to open November 4.

On Sunday November 1, 9am to 1pm, Figueroa and crew are teaming up with the Little Traverse Inn team for a pop-up, serving beloved Fig’s brunch items, including Fig’s Burrito, a Michigan Harvest French Toast and Chorizo Breakfast Bowls. Bryon Figueroa says Little Traverse Inn Chef/Innkeeper Graeme Leask “is a good friend who took me under his wing when I was just getting started and settled up here, and, when I got sick, did fundraisers to help me get well. Now in this transition, he’s invited me to do pop-up brunches, and a game dinner this month.”

The November 14th game dinner at Little Traverse Inn is a fixed menu; Figueroa says duck ravioli, elk carpaccio, and delicata squash with yak stuffing are among the dishes in the works.
