Leelanau Fruit Leadership Releases Statement After Weekend Fire

Leelanau Fruit Company President Glenn LaCross issued the following statement after a fire damaged the company's main facility on Saturday:

"On Saturday afternoon, September 27, a fire occurred at the Leelanau Fruit Company processing plant in Suttons Bay. Thanks to the quick thinking of a staff member who immediately called 911, local fire departments were able to respond rapidly and extinguish the fire.

We are grateful to report that no one was injured. Damage to the facility appears to be limited, though the full extent will not be known until inspections and assessments are completed.

We are deeply thankful for the swift actions of our employee on site, and for the outstanding work of the responding fire departments in protecting both our people, our processing plant, and our community.

At this time, operations at the plant remain under review as we assess next steps. We will provide updates as more information becomes available."
