River Club Glen Arbor Announces Fire Department Fundraiser
On Wednesday, June 17, River Club Glen Arbor (RCGA) will host “Drinks, Putts & Fire Trucks,” described as a “first annual community building and fundraising event” for the Glen Lake Fire Department. The event runs 4-8pm, and RCGA plans to donate “a portion of their profits for the day” to the fire department’s general fund, “along with providing community members a free round of golf on their next visit.”
During the fundraiser, the Glen Lake Fire Department will be on hand, with its ladder truck flying an American flag 105 feet above RCGA and the department’s “ATV, side by side, boat, and ambulance…staged in and around the River Club property.” A tent with public education materials about the fire department will also be on site, and fire department representatives will bring spare department gear for kids and parents to try on for photo opportunities.
On the golf side, every hole-in-one made during the fundraiser will cause “a giant siren mounted atop the River Club Sky Deck” to sound, with the golfer winning a fire department t-shirt and hat. Additionally, the golfer with the lowest 18-hole round during the fundraiser will win a plate of RCGA’s “mucho macho nachos.” Finally, the course will incorporate a few themed holes to celebrate the fire department, including a “CPR hole complete with training dummy”; and a “beat the firefighter” hole, where each golfer will “have a chance to win a prize for getting a lower score than the firefighter.”
RCGA also plans to have several specialty items on its food and drink menus during the fundraiser, including chips served with a special “Glen Lake Five Alarm Salsa” and a spicy margarita dubbed the “Glen Lake Fire-Rita.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to showcase Glen Lake Fire Department’s capabilities and staff to the local community,” said department chief Bryan Ferguson in a press release. “Our goal is for the community to obtain a closer, more personal connection with the fire department while raising funds for trucks, gear and training.”
