Suttons Bay Public Schools Will Celebrate Movie Music, Raise Funds With June 14 Concert

Music students at Suttons Bay Public Schools (SBPS) will conclude the school year with a benefit concert called “Movie Music Magic,” scheduled for 5pm on Saturday, June 14. The concert will showcase SBPS students performing music made famous in Hollywood films, including favorites from Disney and Pixar, iconic themes from famed film composer John Williams, and selections from classic movie musicals.

The show is a fundraiser for the SBPS music department, which is currently in the midst of a rebuild. According to SBPS leaders, all proceeds from ticket sales and other components of the evening will go right back into the program. Those “other components” include a silent auction “featuring unique items and artwork generously donated by local businesses and artists”; and an after party at the VI Grill in Suttons Bay.

Tickets are $20 for the concert, $20 for the after party, and $35 for a “full evening pass.” SBPS students get discounted rates of $5 for the concert and $5 for the after party, or $8 for the evening pass.

Beyond SBPS music students, the evening will feature contributions from other area musicians, including guest vocalist Emma Grant, the Northport Community Band, and local band The Backroom Gang. The Backroom Gang will also play the VI Grill after party.
