The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the July 29 to August 4 call reports.

5:25pm 7/29/2025 Neighbor Lake Leelnanu, Caller said that neighbor put signs up that state he has cameras and caller thinks she is videoing a portion of his yard. 

4:17am 7/30/2025 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller states he woke up inside an attic.

4:54pm 7/30/2025 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelnanau, Caller found something wrapped in plastic 20 feet into the woods.

7:55pm 7/31/2025 Trespassing Maple City, Caller says individual came and took some trees off property, then he took off with trailer. 

2:17am 8/1/2025 Suspicious Person Leland Twp., 45-08 called out checking on a pedestrian.

4:48am 8/1/2024 Family Trouble Suttons Bay Twp., Stated that girlfriend took his phone, keys and wallet. 

6:37pm 8/1/2024 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Ongoing problem with neighbor's dogs, thinks she may have five dogs, three of them were in his coop killing chickens today.

3:07am 8/2/2024 Fire Structure Leelanau Twp., Caller’s wife got up and the side of the house lit up, electric outlet on the outside of the house was blackened, smells like electrical fire. 

8:59pm 8/2/2024 Death Bingham Twp., Caller went to check on her friend and found her on the bathroom floor.

3:20pm 8/3/2024 Animal Control S West-Bay Shore Dr., Volvo, gray, windows are cracked, two dogs are panting and appear to be in distress. 

4:33pm 8/3/2024 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Enroute for someone reported to be pounding on the door of a house.

2:57pm 8/4/2024 Water Rescue N West-Bay Shore Dr., Heard someone yelling for help but can’t see them and has never been able to see them, still hears shouting though. Subject is out of the water. Continuing on land for medical. 

6:41pm 8/4/2025 Suspicious incident Elmwood Twp., Giving two females a ride, they became unruly and are trying to steal his iPad.

9:40pm 8/4/2025 Citizen Assist Lake Leelananu, Caller is repeatedly hearing neighbor talking to herself in the yard and is worried about what she is saying. Would like it checked out.
