The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the September 2 to September 8 call reports.

9:38am 9/2/2025 Info Suttons Bay Twp., Caller went to take the trash out, a slow moving truck turned around then went to park. Feels like it was a drug deal. 

9:47am 9/2/2025 Info Glen Arbor Twp., Caller leaves her car in driveway over the summer– states some strange occurrences have happened. Found wires down in driveway with pinchers on them and her tire was down to 20 psi. 

11:33am 9/2/2025 Animal Control Cedar, 3 horses never being fed, just moved from dirt pasture to dirt pasture. Small amounts of hay in the last 2 weeks, can see their ribs. No shade. They are thin but not neglected. 

7:51pm 9/3/2025 Fuel Spill S West-Bay Shore Dr., On a dock there is a heavy smell of fuel, also there is a sheen on the water.

2:50pm 9/4/2025 Assist Dept Maple City, Wasn't charged for gas when he checked out.

4:59pm 9/4/2025 Suspicious Incident Dune Climb Beach, Says there is a woman driving a rental car with a flat tire who he thinks is intoxicated. 

6:21am 9/5/2025 911 Hangup S West-Bay Shore Dr., Call came in from GTCO, dispatcher reported getting a 911 hangup and heard “car noises” on the line, call was plotting in the water of West Bay. No other calls have come in about a car in water in distress. Not seeing anything out of place.

6:55am 9/5/2025 Fire Leelanau Twp, Small fire, sparking, reported by radio from NPF while passing through the area. On scene with consumers.

7:41am 9/8/2025 Leave Scene S Dune Hwy., Sister was in a rental car and struck the caller’s vehicle that was being driven by caller’s sister. Both vehicles have damage, hazardous spot and bad phone reception.

8:16am 9/8/2025 Larceny Suttons Bay Twp., Believes someone took her wedding ring out of her bag at the beach.

7:46pm 9/8/2025 Suspicious Person S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is reporting a woman walking barefoot southbound, she is on the shoulder mostly but occasionally stepping into the roadway.

10:30pm 9/8/2025 Alarm Empire, “I may have set the alarm off again.”

11:52pm 9/8/2025 Suspicious Incident Suttons bay Twp., Caller is concerned because the lights are still on at the Senior Center. Not seeing anything suspicious, appears they just left the lights on.
