The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the October 6 to October 12 call reports.

9:56am 10/6/2025 UDAA Suttons Bay Twp., Stolen vehicle, white Subaru. Another Subaru here that is the same color, possibly a mixup. 

12:03pm 10/7/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Dog came out of yard and attacked someone and her dog. Dog is now at the Humane Society. 

9:22pm 10/7/2025 Citizen Assist Glen Arbor Twp., Caller and his daughter are locked in the public bathrooms. Everyone has been freed from the bathrooms.

3:26pm 10/8/2025 Parking Cedar, Blue truck parked close to driveway - it’s very close, just barely able to get out. 

2:05pm 10/9/2025 Missing Person Christmas Cove Beach, 90 year old is missing, she is not capable of walking very far. 45-30 located her, returned safely to her family. 

3:58pm 10/9/2025 Suspicious Person Empire Twp., Strange man in a pickup acting weird. Thinks he may be “tweaking”. Silver Ram. 

7:45pm 10/9/2025 Info Leland Twp., Ford pickup on their dirt road that “doesn’t belong there”. Has been showing up for a few days now. 

3:08pm 10/10/2025 Citizen Assist Cedar, Caller is concerned with trespassing signs on his property and the recent drop off of a mutilated deer carcass. Possible poaching as well.

3:40pm 10/10/2025 911 Hangup Cedar, Text to 911 states “I’ll tell you what my emergency is when I get home”. Called number back, direct to voicemail.

3:23pm 10/11/2025 Traffic Violation W Empire Hwy., High profile “race cars” passing in no passing zones. Spoke with a group of drivers with exotic cars at Empire Beach.

5:32pm 10/11/2025 Suspicious Person Cedar, Female selling Fiber Optic supplies on foot walking down the road.

12:15am 10/12/2025 Welfare Check Elmwood Twp., Received a call that an individual called a national emergency number swearing and upset then hung up. Requesting welfare check. Spoke with subject, he advised that he hasn’t placed any calls to any hotlines tonight. 

11:33am 10/12/2025 Citizen Assist Leelnau Twp., Caller states she is here with son and wife, they won’t let her go home. Lives downstate and was brought up here. 

4:03pm 10/12/2025 Suspicious Person E Traverse Hwy., Female claiming to sell stuff for Fiber Optics but has no credentials.
