The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the November 24 to November 29 call reports.

8:58am 11/24/2025 Traffic Violation W Bay Shore Dr., Reporting vehicle that was aggressively tailgating and tried to run him off the road, black Ford. 

5:44pm 11/24/2025 Suspicious Incident W Harbor Hwy., Words written in gravel on the roadway saying “help” and “stop” as you are walking from parking lot to gravel trail. NPS05 found words with additional artwork, nothing suspicious.

10:48am 11/25/2025 Flee and Delude S West-Bay Shore Dr., Vehicle passed caller in turning lane, driving very fast. Female stuck her hands out the window and took off, came up behind at a high rate of speed, passed on right. Driver putting hands up like she is not doing anything wrong. Request tow truck, female in protective custody, taking dog to Humane Society. 

12:16pm 11/25/2025 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., 2 cows and 2 donkeys in yard, do not know where they came from. 

6:48pm 11/26/2025 Road Hazard Empire Twp., Tree down across both lanes, caller doesn't see any power lines. Will clear as much as he can with a chainsaw. Per GLF352, this and 2 other pending hazards will be handled in the next 20 minutes. 

11:5am 11/27/2025 Road Hazard Leelanau Cty., GTB05 reporting the stop sign has blown off the post.

6:03pm 11/27/2025 Building Check N West-Bay Shore Dr., Says building has an open door. Wind blew the door open. 

6:46am 11/28/2025 Motor Vehicle Crash Leelanau Cty., Single black Nissan into the trees, no injuries.

10:51am 11/29/2025 Trespassing Maple City, Consumers tagged trees on caller’s property and he has had issues in the past. 

2:12pm 11/29/2025 Civil Centerville Twp., Caller is trying to purchase a snow blower off Marketplace and he paid for part of it but he doesn’t think the people are going to give him the snow blower. Needs advice on what to do. 

7:42pm 11/29/2025 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Caller is reporting a pitbull mix outside, it has no food or water, howls day and night.
