The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the December 16 to December 22 call reports.

11:44am 12/16/2025 Suspicious Vehicle Suttons Bay Twp., Caller says there is a car parked and running in his driveway. Someone is in it looking at their phone, caller does not want to approach it, it has been there about 15 minutes. Black SUV. 

4:15pm 12/16/2025 Suspicious Person Northport, Security called, employees would like an escort to their cars again, subject is lingering and employees don't feel safe.

11:16pm 12/16/2025 MDOP Leelanau Cty., Vehicle in the parking lot had its window broken.

11:41am 12/18/2025 Info Empire Twp., Operations manager found someone sleeping in a closet, subject left willingly, caller wanted a report on record. 

2:27pm 12/18/2025 Fraud Empire Twp., Caller is a real estate agent who was contacted by someone to sell the property who was not the property owner. 

3:59pm 12/18/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Two dogs came around her deck, one might be bleeding. Have been on the street for about an hour, medium sized, one brown/white with curly fur, sticks in fur. Second grayish brown. Had collars, no tags. 

5:27pm 12/18/2025 Info Cedar, Caller reports neighbor is acting “strange”. There is nothing criminal and no boundaries have been crossed. She was advised about trespassing options and just wants information noted on the record in case he acts strange in a way that is threatening. 

3:23am 12/19/2025 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelanau, Reporter got a call from his neighbor saying there was some “funny business” going on at the house. Caller would like the house checked. No signs of forced entry.

5:55pm 12/20/2025 Road Hazard Scott Rd., Tree is completely blocking road.

8:00am 12/21/2025 Building Check Leland Twp., Owner of this house called reporter, said they see a gray BMW in the driveway and lights on in the house. Shouldn’t be anyone there.

9:25am 12/22/2025 Animal Control Cedar, One Setter and one Shepherd mix, slipped collars on Thursday. Last seen around Joe Vlack park Saturday night.

12:12pm 12/22/2025 Animal Control Cleveland Twp., Caller reporting a dog tied up outside, no shelter, short chain, always seems to be barking.
