The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the May 18 to May 26 call reports.

6:27am 5/18/2026 Burn Permit Lake Leelanau, Agriculture burn of a “pretty good size”. 

11:04am 5/18/2026 Suspicious Person Suttons Bay Twp., Individual out behind tribal court. They were mushroom hunting. 

3:55pm 5/18/2026 Neighbor Leelanau Cty., Neighbor came out and yelled at caller’s niece walking back from the schoolbus. 

9:44am 5/20/2026 Harassment Leland Twp., Caller is doing pest control and neighbor was harassing him, yelling at him that his truck was “breaking the road”. Also preventing him from leaving. 

11:37am 5/20/2026 Disorderly Suttons Bay Twp., Caller reporting male on the property threatening caller, throwing tools. 

10:46am 5/21/2026 Fire Structure Cleveland Twp., Can see haze in restaurant, smells chemicals in the air. 

2:28pm 5/21/2026 Scam Leland Twp., White van Consumer’s logo, parties posing as Consumers representatives threatening to shut off power. Caller verified directly with Consumers who advised there is a state-wide investigation going on regarding this scam; the subjects leave a “ticket” but apparently only ask for money to keep power on. 

10:05am 5/23/2026 Event Cedar, Running traffic for a march through downtown Cedar. 

9:46am 5/24/2026 Citizen Assist Leland Twp., Neighbor put a bunch of stuff on caller’s property. Ongoing issue. 

7:51pm 5/24/2026 Trespassing Suttons Bay Twp., Three men here looking for employees.

3:09pm Suspicious Person 5/25/2026 N West Bay Shore Dr, Called out for a suspicious female, possibly intoxicated. 

12:15am 5/26/2026 Fire Structure Leelanau Cty., Caller just woke up, black smoke in the garage which is attached to the house. All extinguished, fire is out, looking for hot spots.
