The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the June 15 to June 21 call reports.

12:47am 6/15/2026 Suspicious Incident Empire Twp., Caller is reporting his headlights went on in his vehicle. Caller doesn’t see anyone but would like the area checked. 

12:46pm 6/15/2026 Civil Leelanau Cty., Caller wants to report his old landlord stole his guitar and would like us to get it back for him.

2:34pm 6/15/2026 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller reporting pickup who drove through the orchard while spraying, pulled alongside sprayer but would not stop and speak. Caller would like to know how to proceed with this.

11:25pm 6/15/2026 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelnaanu, Caller is reporting there are a couple people in the vacant lot with flashlights. When they saw the caller, they shut off the flashlights.

12:37pm 6/16/2026 Miscellaneous Suttons Bay Twp., Inappropriate sign on a state highway. Owner will be taking care of the sign. 

11:44pm 6/18/2026 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Caller thinks bear is outside because they hear grunting and have food outside some kind of container.  

9:17am 6/19/2026 Suspicious Incident Northport, Man with yellow vest said he was checking gas meter. DTE said they are closed for the holiday. They usually drive by, not walk. He is now walking north on M22. 

3:41pm 6/19/2026 Larceny Leelnaanu Twp., Caller advised that her fiance’s vehicle has had its windows broken and possibly broken into. 

9:16pm 6/19/2026 Citizen Assist S Stocking Scenic Drive, Caller and a friend are trying to make it up overlook 9 and just wanted to know “How much it would cost for someone to come and get them”.  

4:14pm 6/20/2026 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller says "a man" follows her up from downstate when they are on vacation here.

​​7:51pm 6/20/2026 Larceny Empire Twp., Caller is reporting that they were filling up their truck with gas, walked around to the other side, and when they came back an individual was moving quickly with a gas tank and he had stolen the gas that they were paying for.

11:59pm 6/21/2026 Suspicious Person Leelanau Cty., Caller sees 3 people in his boatyard walking around with flashlights.
