The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the August 25 to August 31 call reports.

7:13am 8/25/2026 Fire Wires Down Kasson Twp., Wire down and  the grass is on fire. 

10:50am 8/25/2026 Welfare Check Cedar, Young man walking carrying a computer, seemed a bit off trying to hitchhike. 

8:49am 8/26/2026 Fire Misc Peshawbestown, Checking on an odor. There is a slight smell of a gas-like odor that personnel report as “being normal”. Issue will be turned over to maintenance for further investigation. 

9:45pm 8/26/2026 Noise Bingham Twp., Loud party or wedding going on and caller would like them to keep it down. 

9:09am 8/27/2026 Unknown Problem Leelnau Cty., Husband/friend was out for a run. He sent them a text “send the police”. Caller determined he was with an injured person and is okay.

9:09pm 8/27/2026 Suspicious Incident S West-Bay Shore Dr., Young girl running across the road. She was alone in a light colored nightgown carrying a stuffed animal. Caller just thought it was suspicious that she was alone. 

1:59pm 8/28/2026 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Caller says, “The german shepherds” are loose again in the neighborhood. 

3:29pm 8/28/2026 Trespassing Lake Leelnanau, Caller bought property and subject has removed survey stakes and is now cultivating property that belongs to caller to use for a drain field. 

8:23pm 8/28/2026 Fuel Spill Leelanau Cty., Caller reporting a sheen in the water and a smell of fuel. Unsure where it is coming from. 

11:23am 8/29/2026 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Woman cursing out of her window.

11:07am 8/31/2026 Animal Control Greilickville, Says there has been no one there for days and there are multiple animals in the house that have been abandoned.

10:47pm 8/31/2026 Motor Vehicle Crash Leelanau Cty., Female flipped her golf cart while HBD, it did land on top of her. She is conscious and breathing complaining of arm pain. Golf cart is no longer on top of her.
