The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the September 1 to September 7 call reports.

1:13pm 9/1/2026 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Dog ran off last night from their house. Checking to see if it shows up in Leelnanau. Male medium mixed breed with short white hair. 

4:20pm 9/1/2026 MDOP Suttons Bay Twp., Graffiti and damage to dumpster at the township park. 

9:48pm 9/1/2026 Suspicious Incident Bingham Twp., Caller advised she is getting weird phone calls and thinks there are people outside looking in her windows.

3:23pm 9/2/2026 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Dog park, caller reporting there is a woman who brings 3 dogs when you are only allowed to bring 2. 

8:13pm 9/2/2026 Traffic Stop Elmwood Twp., Green Honda Pilot ran stop light and sped up to 80 mph and passed 3 cars. Caller is still behind but losing sight because “they are driving like a bat out of hell”. 

9:33pm 9/3/2026 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Caller is reporting a break-in at his home, people in his hot tub. Reporter called back, there was a miscommunication, individuals have permission to be there.

10:38am 9/4/2026 Animal Control Kasson Twp., Caller has seen a man who drives a black Buick who has a dog on a leash that runs along the side of his vehicle. Dog appears to be in distress and having a hard time keeping up. 

1:40pm 9/4/2026 Welfare Check Empire Twp., Citizen in Fort Worth received a random call from number. They tracked it down to an address. In the call she said she was trapped in a closet and wanted to “order pizza”. Fort Worth Police Department treated it like a welfare check, no emergencies. 

2:32pm 9/4/2026 Suspicious Incident Leelnanu Twp., Caller who lives at this address was checking security cameras and saw a woman who they have seen 2 other times. Would like to speak with law enforcement about options. 

12:03am 9/5/2026 Suspicious Incident Cedar, Someone aggressively knocked on caller’s door and when she went to look outside no one was in the area.

9:30pm 9/5/2026 Suspicious Person Lake Leelanau, Caller was driving and saw a man stumbling on side of road with a can of alcohol and no shirt. 

8:32pm 9/6/2026 Disorderly Suttons Bay Twp., Male outside the Streetside Grille screaming at people. Has 2 dogs with him. 

1:28am 9/7/2026 Suspicious Person S West-Bay Shore Dr., There is a teenager on an electric bike looking around offices ans vehicles. Subject wearing all black, caller thinks he is up to no good. 

4:22pm 9/7/2026 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelanau, Caller noticed her cable box has been pried open and wires removed and cut. Services are still working.
