Wine Taste From Home With Vintner Drew Perry

The team at Aurora Cellars is using Instagram live as a way connect with people in their own homes during mandatory shelter in place, says Taylor Simpson of Good Harbor Vineyards and Aurora Cellars. “The virtual wine tasting is a concept that a handful of California wineries are promoting. We thought it would be a great idea to create our own,” she says.

“We have not heard of other Michigan wineries offering this, but I have to imagine others will start to as well if shelter at home continues.”

Taste three wines from Lake Leelanau’s Aurora Cellars with winemaker Drew Perry on April 15, 22 and 29 at 6:30pm on Instagram live, @auroracellars.

The lineup was handpicked by Perry, who made all three wines:

April 15, 2017 Aurora Cellars Pinot Grigio: Pinot Grigio is a varietal that thrives in the growing conditions of the Leelanau Peninsula. 2017 was an ideal growing season with long warm days and cooler nights.

April 22, Aurora Cellars Luminous: Luminous is a blend of Vignoles, Sevyal, Pinot Gris, and Riesling all sourced from vineyards on the Leelanau Peninsula.

April 29, 2016 Aurora Cellars Blaufrankisch: Wine critic James Suckling scored this 2016 Blaufrankisch 91 on his 100 point scale.

Follow @auroracellars on Instagram each of the Wednesdays beginning at 6:30pm. The wines are not needed to participate, however, Aurora is offering the three-bottle set at a special rate of $58 for those who would like to taste along with Perry. The tri-pack is available for curbside pick-up from the tasting room or place an order by April 6 to have it shipped in time for the first tasting. Perry will spend a few minutes explaining the wine’s profile, then invite participants to type in their questions.
