Friendship Community Center Plots Leelanau County Volunteer Fair For May 19

By Craig Manning | April 23, 2025

The Friendship Community Center in Suttons Bay, home to Leelanau Investing For Teens (LIFT), will host a Leelanau County Volunteer Fair on Monday, May 19. The event, which is intended to “connect Leelanau County residents with local nonprofit organizations,” is scheduled for 4-7pm at the Friendship Community Center, located at 201 W Broadway in Suttons Bay.

Similar to a traditional job fair, the volunteer fair will give participating nonprofits space to set up informational tables and share details about their organizations, missions, and volunteer opportunities. Attendees will be able to peruse tables, ask questions about nonprofits, and sign up for volunteer roles. Light refreshments will be served as part of the fair.

In addition to LIFT, a nonprofit that provides after-school programming for teenaged students in Leelanau County, the event will feature “a diverse array of local nonprofits,” including organizations “focused on environmental conservation, education, health services, and community support.”

Nonprofits interested in getting a table at the fair are encouraged to contact Courtney Gorman, volunteer director for LIFT and the Friendship Community Center, at courtneyog@thecentersb.com.
