Jacob’s Farm Shares Sneak Peek Of Grateful Dead-Inspired Corn Maze

By Craig Manning | July 25, 2025

Autumn is closer than you think, and Jacob’s Farm is here to serve up the reminder. The Leelanau County business shared a sneak peek of its annual corn maze on social media this week, showing off photos of the in-progress design. This year’s maze is a tribute to legendary rock band The Grateful Dead, with a design that incorporates the Dead’s iconic skull-and-lightning-bolt logo.

Speaking to the Leelanau Ticker this spring, Jacob’s Farm owner Mike Witkop teased “renewed energy for the corn maze” this year, as the popular fall tradition marks its 18th year.

“We’re really excited about the team that's putting together the corn maze this year,” Witkop said in April. “The maze is really where we got our start, back in 2008, but I've kind of felt over the last five years that it hasn't received the type of attention it deserves for what it brings to the farm. So, we've gone back to basics and rebuilt the whole plan for our corn maze for this season, and we’re excited to bring that into the market again in August.”

According to this week’s Facebook post, the corn his “been cut” and is “growing strong,” with Jacob’s Farm eyeing a “mid-August” opening for the attraction.
