Join Northport’s May Day Tree Planting Party In Haserot Park

April 21, 2021

Releaf Michigan is putting a call out for volunteers to help plant 20 trees in Haserot Park on Saturday, May 1, 8:45am to noon. The nonprofit tree organization teamed up with the village of Northport, Northport Lions Club, Leelanau Conservation District, The Women’s Club of Northport, and the DTE Foundation to host the morning tree-planting, which is being done to increase the overall tree canopy and for stream conservation purposes.

Interested volunteers are asked to sign up as a family or COVID-safe team of three or four people at www.releafmichigan.org/rsvp, and to come wearing masks, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. No experience is necessary — Releaf Michigan’s tree experts will be there to show how to plant a tree and oversee the event — but volunteers should bring a shovel and work gloves if they have them. The group will meet at the Northport Visitors Center in Haserot Park at 8:45am, rain or shine.

Email Kathryn Frerichs, planning commissioner for the village of Northport, with any questions.
