The Leelanau Ticker’s look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the March 1 to March 7 call reports:
6:00pm 03/01/22 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Township, Reporting party believes illegal guns in residence.
9:40am 03/01/22 Dispatch Deer S. Schomberg Rd., Deer in yard, been hit by a car, still alive. Deer went into the woods, unable to get to it.
7:13pm 03/01/22 Suspicious Incident S. Lautner Rd., Called out with a vehicle with hazards on and a couple of children running in the road. Spoke with the driver. She was doing a workout and was unaware that there were other vehicles on the road.
8:31pm 03/01/22 Dispatch Deer E. Fouch Rd., Passerby saw a deer that had been hit.
8:41pm 03/01/22 Traffic Violation N. Lake Leelanau Dr., Driver had been drinking, heading north out of Leland on M-22 going towards Omena. Blue Subaru. Vehicle has two children in it.
2:47pm 03/02/22 Vehicle in Ditch N. Omena Point Rd., Semi in the ditch.
8:09am 03/03/22 Threats Suttons Bay Township, Advised his boss threatened to hit him yesterday and is harassing him again today.
10:23am 03/03/22 Overdose Suttons Bay Township.
1:07pm 03/03/22 Fire Vehicle N. Overlook Rd., Plow truck on fire in front of a house.
4:49pm 03/03/22 Larceny Good Harbor Beach, Windows were smashed and purse is gone. Gray Subaru Forester.
7:40pm 03/03/22 Convulsions/Seizure Elmwood Charter Township, 6-year-old, Priority 1.
8:51pm 03/03/22 Suspicious Vehicle Cleveland Township, Someone shining a spotlight at the house across the road from the reporting party's.
11:44am 03/04/22 Animal Control Injury N. West-Bay Shore Dr., Deer fell through the ice.
8:24am 03/05/22 Motor Vehicle Collision Injury N. Jacobson Rd., Priority 1.
12:41pm 03/05/22 Traffic Violation S. Maple City Rd., Red Chevy southbound, swerving over center line driving in wrong lane. Driver was eating lunch and not paying attention to the road.
12:28am 03/06/22 Suspicious Incident Turtle Creek, Going to the casino regarding a disgruntled gambler.
1:01am 03/06/22 Citizen Assist Cedar, Reporting party heard crunching steps outside of her window and her motion detector light went on near her garage. Did a walk around the house and the garage, nothing suspicious.
7:53am 03/06/22 Road Hazard N. Shore Dr., 1.5’ deep water across roadway. Fire department putting out cones.
8:42am 03/06/22 Road Hazard W. Empire Hwy., 1’ of water across roadway.
12:50pm 03/06/22 Citizen Assist Leland, Housekeeper found a loaded gun in the room.
6:02pm 03/06/22 Vehicle in Ditch S. Dune Hwy., Checking on a stuck vehicle assisted them with a push.
7:28am 03/07/22 Sick Person Solon Township, Caller statement: husband dizzy. Priority 3. Two patients feeling dizzy and sick.
8:02am 03/07/22 Vehicle in Ditch S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Car in the ditch stuck pretty good.
8:06am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision E. Duck Lake Rd., Single vehicle front end damage. Van sent to pull the vehicle out. Damaged but drivable.
8:11am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision Injury N. West-bay Shore Dr., Two vehicle motor vehicle collision head on with injuries. Two vehicles need tow.
8:11am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision E. Cherry Bend Rd., Two cars in the ditch and one hit a mailbox. Subaru Outback and Jeep.
8:13am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision S. Plowman Rd., Two-car accident. Black Sierra truck and silver Chrysler minivan.
8:40am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision W. Burdickville Rd., Hit vehicle in the parking lot.
8:46am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision E. Crain Hill Rd., Two-car motor vehicle collision. No injuries. 45-02 Request Fire department to shut down Crain Hill. Shut down Crain Hill at 633.
9:15am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision - Rollover N. Setterbo Rd., Single vehicle on its side off the road no injuries.
9:22am 03/07/22 Motor Vehicle Collision E. Crain Hill Rd., Hit a vehicle in the ditch. Red Civic.
10:37am 03/07/22 Animal Control - Bite Elmwood Charter Township, Cat bite.
12:16pm 03/07/22 Falls DeYoung Natural Area, Trail that goes to cedar lake 1/4 mile into the woods. Caller statement: fell and hurt hip. Priority 3. Made contact with the patient. Patient is out of the woods.
6:06pm 03/07/22 Vehicle in Ditch S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Red truck went off the road over a snowbank and into the ditch.
6:49pm 03/07/22 Suspicious Incident S. Lake Shore Dr., Caller sounded very riled up and then sounded like he was yelling at someone. Towards the end of the call he said he didn't need help. Everything is fine, yelling was apparently TV in the background.
7:17pm 03/07/22 Citizen Assist Peshawbestown, GTB07 called out over the air en route to assist a woman in getting her dog off its leash.
7:24pm 03/07/22 Road Hazard E. Hohnke Rd., Reporting party is reporting a Lowe’s delivery truck stuck in the ditch in front of reporting party's address, blocking eastbound and part of westbound traffic. Jerry's Towing called, they have a tow truck en route from Reed City with a 1.5 hour ETA. Tow is here.
10:14pm 03/07/22 Suspicious Vehicle Cedar Lake DNR Launch, A vehicle is 200 yards onto the ice. Someone is out with a flashlight. Can see the tracks going out and coming back, so it's off the lake now.
