Find recipe inspiration for the local asparagus popping up right now, including an asparagus panzanella salad, Leelenau sushi rolls, asparagus salsa, and a spring risotto in a just-released 2020 Empire Asparagus Festival Recipe Book, downloadable here.
The 2020 Empire Asparagus Festival recipe contest went virtual this year, with Empire residents-chefs Melanie and Tim Griffith assisting the Empire Chamber of Commerce in compiling and editing asparagus recipes submitted from all over the state and beyond.
Just as the pandemic hit, the Griffiths, who operate the catering company Mel & Fell, launched a new weekly meal subscription and delivery service, with plans to continue it indefinitely.
