Property Watch: Beach Villa On The Big Lake

By Emily Tyra | Sept. 10, 2021

This cherished cedar shake beach house in Empire (9060 S. Bar Road; $1,995,000; MLS# 1892659) was recently moved away from the bluff on Lake Michigan to a secure spot on its 2.5-acre lot so generations can enjoy it for years to come.

The departing owners wanted to set the next ones up for breezy days on the lake: the property includes 100 feet of private sandy beach frontage, two new wrap-around decks, an outdoor shower, new stairway to the beach, and tile flooring throughout. (Hurricane shutters and a backup generator have the stormy days covered, too.) There are a total of seven bedrooms, including two in the 2021 main-level addition. Owner/Broker Kimberly Bork of Venture Properties in Leland notes that the detached garage also has a guest apartment with a limited kitchen, two bedrooms and a bath, plus baseboard heat and A/C.
