Property Watch: Lake Life In Empire
By Emily Tyra | May 10, 2021
For those who have wondered who lives in the beach house perched next to the lighthouse at Empire beach…well, it could be you.
This dreamboat of a house (11520 S. Lake Michigan Drive, Empire; $1,495,000) is in an almost unbelievable spot — adjacent to Empire Beach, on its own sugar-sand stretch of Lake Michigan, and 100 feet from South Bar Lake. Since it is so easy to get stars in your eyes over a spot walkable to downtown Empire’s restaurants, shops, bank, post office, library, etc. — with a lake out both your front and back doors — we checked in with listing agent Ranae Ihme of LVR Realty, LLC who confirms this down-to-earth checklist:
It’s a year-round home, with its own parking, a brand-new cedar shake roof, a new hot water heater (two years ago), and the propety has a new shed that even comes with the bikes inside it. The 1,365-square foot, two bedroom, and one-and-a-half bathroom space is sold furnished with a few exceptions. Ihme notes it can become a private beach getaway, but currently has an excellent rental history (in fact, it has a fully committed rental calendar for the summer of 2021).
