The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the January 3 to January 9 call reports.

12:24:33pm 1/3/2023 Animal Control Large Lake Leelanau., Cow in road.

1:56:51pm 1/3/2023 Motor Vehicle Crash Leland Twp., Customer ran into building with vehicle. Structure is secure. Truck is still on building. Red GMC hit east side. 

10:05:52am 1/5/2023 Motor Vehicle Crash Traverse City., Caller is the manager of the trailer park and someone drove into the mailboxes last night and knocked them down. Driving around looking for other damage to property or vehicles. Unable to locate any vehicles with damage in that area.

3:45:48pm 1/5/2023 Civil W Philip St., Subject made charges at the store and now is not paying for them. 

5:43:30am 1/6/2023 Suspicious Incident Traverse City., Caller is staying at an Airbnb and they hear noises, possibly knocking on the door, looked outside and did not see anything or anyone but would like it checked out. No signs of anyone around home. 

11:27:24am 1/6/2023 Suspicious Incident E Nagonaba St., Ice cream vendor, was at Northport to unload ice cream when a man bumped into her and jabbed his elbow into her ribs.

7:41:34pm 1/6/2023 Suspicious Person S Glen Lake Rd. & S Forest., Caller witnessed a male walking into the woods wearing camo and carrying a rifle. 

9:27:57am 1/7/2023 Motor Vehicle Crash E Traverse Highway & S Cedar Run Rd., Coming downhill and trailer spilled and rolled over. Gravel in the side of the road. 

3:32:59pm 1/7/2023 Animal Control Found Elmwood Charter Twp., Has beagle on a leash. Has shock collar and no tag. Dog owner called in after seeing social media posts. “Louie” was reunited. 

9:11:18pm 1/8/2023 911 Hangup Leland Twp., 911 call with open line, no one answering, upon callback someone answered and said nothing. The same number called the non-emergent line and said nothing two times. Answer on text message that there is no emergency, and that a toddler kept getting the phone.

11:17:08pm 1/9/2023 Assualt & Battery Suttons Bay Twp., Caller requesting deputy to respond to a fight complaint.
