The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the January 21 to January 28 call reports.

7:02am 1/21/2025 Vehicle Ditch S Good Harbor Trl., Called to state that she was in the ditch.

12:11pm 1/21/2025 Citizen Assist Lake Leelanau, Neighbor concerned for subject. 

5:27pm 1/21/2025 Animal Control S Lake Leelanau Dr., Dog outside last few days. Dog is curled up in a ball on the porch, chained. Spoke with homeowner. 

12:21am 1/22/2025 Fire Smoke S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is driving home and she advised that she could see a large amount of smoke in the area. No flames visible. Appears to be blowing snow off of one of the boats. Checking behind the buildings on pier, just in case. 

11:20am 1/23/2025 Info Cedar, 2 snowmobiles all over the hill, caller is worried about their safety.

11:47am 1/23/2025 Info Northport Twp., Strange accident on the property– male pulled up to the pump/vacuum cleaner, he went to leave and yanked the vacuum cleaner off.

1:05pm 1/23/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Cty., Pig jumped out of the trailer from the vehicle in front of him, it is walking down the road now. Another caller states there are two pigs in the area. One of the pigs may be injured. 

1:30pm 1/23/2025 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller is stuck inside her car and the doors won’t open. She is stuck in her driveway in the snow. She is out of the car.

8:47am 1/24/2025 Animal Control Cedar, Pit mix found tied to a fence at the end of the driveway.

2:00pm 1/25/2025 Motor Vehicle Crash Leelanau Cty., Went around corner and vehicle coming at him at the same time clipped his bumper. They are no longer there. 

8:56pm 1/25/2025 Disorderly Lake Leelanau, Trying to get aggressive male out of restaurant. 

11:37am 1/26/2025 Suspicious Incident S West-Bay Shore Dr., Two youths are snowboarding on a newly constructed staircase. On arrival no one was around. Saw vehicle tracks and snowboarding tracks on the hill. 

6:56pm 1/26/2025 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Twp., Caller reporting seeing a flashlight on the southeast end of her home, light has since disappeared. Would like the property checked.

7:59pm 1/26/2025 Fire Structure Leelanau Cty., Fireplace on fire. Chimney and possibly roof. Small 2 story building, some smoke, no current flames visible. Everyone evacuated, keep everyone coming. Will be putting out fire in wood box and checking attic for spread. 

11:54am 1/27/2025 Trauma Suttons Bay Twp., GTB09 flagged down, someone has injured themselves. 

6:37am 1/28/2025 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller is planning on terminating an employee and they are worried that he may cause a scene.
