The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the April 29 to May 5 call reports.

9:04am 4/29/2025 Road Hazard Lake Leelanau, Came across a large tree in the roadway, blocking both lanes, able to get around on the shoulder. 

10:29am 4/29/2025 Road Hazard Northport, Reporting large amounts of manure in the roadway.

2:18am 5/1/2025 Neighbor Maple City, Caller’s neighbor is doing construction for the past week at all hours, would like him to stop. They just had a verbal altercation. I’ve spoken with both parties, the person responsible for the noise is going to leave for the night. 

10:08am 5/1/2025 MDOT Glen Arbor Twp., Bought a generator last year, hasn’t ever worked, company came out to fix it several times, they are now saying it’s not worth their time. There is a lot of sand in it and there’s no way it could have gotten there if not deliberately. Caller wants to speak to a deputy about Michigan Department of Transportation. 

6:14pm 5/1/2025 Motor Vehicle Crash Lake Leelanau, Hit a green reflector sign, very little damage to his vehicle but not sure if he needs a report or who he needs to make restitution to for the sign. 

7:34am 5/2/2025 Animal Control Cedar, Small herd of cattle came into her yard.

8:06am 5/2/2025 Building Check Northport, A man approached the door and left something there, would like it checked out. Checked the house, nothing nefarious there called and updated him. 

8:47am 5/2/2025 Animal Control Northport, Found a poodle.

9:15pm 5/2/2025 Info North Bar Lake, Woman was walking along Lake Michigan just South of North Bar today, said she took a step in an area where some water had collected by the shore and her foot went down into quicksand. She fell over and her friend was able to pull her out; just wanted someone to be aware.

4:28pm 5/3/2025 Animal Control Elmwood Twp., Dogs in her yard, has pictures, same dogs that have been in the Timberlee area multiple times. 

10:47pm 5/3/2025 Misc Juvenile Leland, Anonymous caller provided tip of possible underage drinking at Leland Home. 

11:48am 5/4/2025 Suspicious Person S West-Bay Shore Dr., Saw a man near this address sitting on the side of the southbound lane holding his head. Thinks someone should check on him.

8:07am 5/5/2025 Fire Misc Centerville Twp., Called direct by homeowner of structure fire last night, they have some areas of concern they would like looked at.
