The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the August 11 to August 18call reports.

8:01am 8/11/2025 Traffic Violation E Duck Lake Rd., Caller was driving 50mph and was passed with oncoming traffic, forcing the caller off the roadway. Back Ford pickup.

11:26am 8/11/2025 Larceny Lake Leelanau, Caller had items in a storage unit. Started moving items from storage unit to new address. Caller had zip-tied totes shut and found the zip ties had been cut. Missing items. 

5:45pm 8/12/2025 Welfare Check Glen Arbor Twp., Heard neighbor calling out for help, tried knocking on all doors. All are locked, have been unable to gain access.

10:56pm 8/12/2025 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelanau, Caller advised someone just came up to her window and knocked on it and also last night someone knocked on her door at 1:30am. Caller would like the area checked and to speak with an officer.

9:30am 8/13/2025 Info E Government Center Dr., Inmate attempted to break out of jail.

7:21pm 8/13/2025 Suspicious Person Empire Twp., A woman with black curly hair is walking around the playground area wearing only a blue shirt with nothing on underneath and keeps lifting her shirt up. 

11:18am 8/14/2025 Suspicious Incident Northport, Heard strange noises around 5:00am and discovered and discovered the gas cap on her car had been opened. Also heard someone walking around early in the morning about 3 weeks ago. Requests additional patrols in the area.

8:05am 8/15/2025 Suspicious Person S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller heard that people were trying to get into houses on Omena in the last couple of days. Caller saw a person in their 40’s. This person had three very full bags he was carrying with him.  

10:31am 8/16/2025 Animal Control Leelanau Twp., Lost dog. Labradoodle, brown apricot color, male, 45 lbs.

11:34am 8/16/2025 Animal Control S West-Bay Shore Dr., Two reports of an injured bobcat. 

10:26pm 8/16/2025 Suspicious Incident E Cherry Bend Rd., Caller heard a woman screaming. He did not specify whether she was screaming for help but thought it was suspicious. 

12:51am 8/17/2025 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller just saw a naked man in her camera on her porch. 

6:42pm 8/18/2025 Citizen Assist N West-Bay Shore Dr., Thinks the person staying with them is hoarding manure and may be contaminating food with it.
