The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the August 19 to August 25 call reports.

3:34pm 8/19/2025 Threats Leelnaanu Twp., Individual is driving around with his german shepherd. Caller flipped him off and then the subject stated he was going to “come after him”. 

11:36am 8/20/2025 Info Northport, Caller states there is a bunch of construction equipment at this intersection without signage. A worker jumped out and started screaming at them. 

6:36pm 8/20/2025 Dumping Bingham Twp., Caller is reporting illegal dumping of trash bags on her property. Neighbor has had issues in the past with dumping and some drug paraphernalia involved. Would like to speak with an officer. 

12:59pm 8/21/2025 Animal Control Northport, Dogs barking constantly every day all day– believes people walking by are what set them off. 

6:42pm 8/21/2025 Car Animal W Empire Hwy., Turkey went through her windshield. Does not need an ambulance.

7:2pm 8/21/2025 Noise Leelanau Cty., Caller is hearing a cannon going off for about 10 minutes, it’s very loud. Would just like the area checked.

2:26pm 8/22/2025 Animal Control W Traverse Hwy., Miniature collie, female, not from around here, jumped out of car and they didn’t realize it. Posted on facebook, others looking as well.

6:47pm 8/22/2025 Suspicious Incident Northport, Man standing on the side of the road staring down cars as they are driving by and looking threatening. 

8:58pm 8/22/2025 Info Leland, Caller advised there was a drone flying over her while she was tanning then it flew off. 

1:28pm 8/23/2025 Found Property Lake Leelnanau, Wife found a shotgun while cleaning. 

2:18pm 8/23/2025 Suspicious Vehicle Solon Twp., Silver Jeep Cherokee with smoked out windows and smoked out license plate has been around yesterday and today.

4:00am 8/24/2025 Suspicious Incident Omena, Caller advised they can see a light at the end of their driveway and it has been there for a while. Their dogs have also been barking at something outside.

7:08am 8/25/2025 Traffic Violation Maple City, Blue BMW driving too fast for this early in the morning.
