The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the September 9 to September 14 call reports.

8:06am 9/9/2025 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Car alarm going off for 15 minutes then it was shut off. Caller was thinking that maybe vehicle owner was in the house having an emergency and could only get to the keys. Made contact with individual there who stated it was his car, he set off his alarm in retaliation to the golf course with the leaf blower to annoy them and wake them up. 

4:36am 9/10/2025 Suspicious Person E Traverse Hwy., A man is standing on the shoulder of the road and appeared to be swaying back and forth, possibly under the influence. Out with the individual, he just got released from jail and is walking home. 

11:30am 9/11/2025 Larceny Leelanau Cty., Caller is reporting that his business signs have been stolen for approximately 1.5 years and he finally put air tags in them and he can see where at least two of his air tags are present. 

11:03am 9/12/2025 Suspicious Incident Maple City, Caller was walking and a grey and black Toyota pickup truck came by and she put out her hand to signify they should slow down. The vehicle then turned around and started following the caller so she ran into a parking lot. Just wanted it documented. 

6:24pm 9/12/2025 Animal Control Bingham Twp., Renters have 2 dogs unattended outside that have been barking for 3 days straight and are barking right now. 

7:26pm 9/12/2025 Family Trouble N West-Bay Shore Dr., Wife is drunk and “acting stupid”. 

1:39am 9/13/2025 Noise S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is reporting the neighbor is having a loud party, playing La Cucaracha very loud. It was a wedding party, they agreed to turn off the music for the night. 

3:13pm 9/13/2025 Citizen Assist Dune Climb, Someone is halfway down the dune, quite a few people shouting for help to call 911. 

3:22pm 9/13/2025 Suspicious Person Cedar, Male standing on the side of the road staring into the ditch for about a half hour. 

7:49pm 9/14/2025 Disorderly Leelanau Cty., Caller is not cooperating, needs gas can brought to him which we explained the police do not do. He was given the phone number to 2 tow companies but is not using those services and the clerk would like him removed from the store. Big Dog Twoing called and stated the caller had called him and then the clerk yelled, “Get on the other side of the counter!” then the phone disconnected. No answer on callback. In custody.
