The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the December 1 to December 7 call reports.
2:25pm 12/1/2025 Suspicious Incident Good Harbor Trl., Caller passed someone creepy on the trail with a hood and sunglasses, heard a gunshot close to her then saw him scurry out of the woods and start running down the trail. No cars were parked. Subject detained, in custody.
8:54pm 12/1/2025 Break Enter Suttons Bay Twp., Last week someone tried to break into caller’s back door, he had gotten home and the lock on the door had screws coming out. Wasn't able to gain entry. Caller also has tracks around his car where they were trying to steal gas from his car tonight and they broke the gas cap. Dark colored Chevy or Ford looked to be watching the caller from the boat launch tonight.
3:21pm 12/2/2025 Animal Control E Carter Rd., Received tip regarding a dog living in a vehicle in front of vacant house. Past 2 weeks someone brings it food and water then leaves. 45-30 advised that all that is required in order to provide is food and shelter.
5:12pm 12/4/2025 Larceny Bingham Twp., Caller reports that someone came to look at a car that the insurance was supposed to look at and took off with it.
10:54am 12/5/2025 Citizen Assist Maple City, Caller states a business is illegally taking over the road, he needs an officer to come and collect evidence. Nothing is criminal.
1:24pm 12/5/2025 Citizen Assist N West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller was harassed by police yesterday and wants to file a complaint.
3:39pm 12/5/2025 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., 2 horses in a pasture, throwing down hay bales– they look thin. Caller is concerned they aren’t getting enough to eat.
4:34pm 12/5/2025 Harassment Leelanau Twp., Individual has been harassing her, walking past her house and may have walked down her driveway.
8:17pm 12/5/2025 Info Suttons Bay Twp., Caller had stopped at an intersection, noticed a male and female had started crossing the road in front of where she was turning. She braked and the male leaned over the hood of the car and caller rolled down the window to talk to him to make sure she didn't hit him and male responded sarcastically, “I don’t know, did you?” then kept walking and giving irritated looks to the caller.
10:21pm 12/7/2025 Break Enter Glen Lake, Caller got home and noticed garage door was unlocked and door inside was unlocked as well. Caller knows it was locked when she left. Ring camera shows an SUV came into driveway and alarm system went off. Strong natural gas smell, house searched, no signs of gas.
