The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the January 5 to January 11 call reports.

9:13am 1/5/2026 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., Report of a horse shelter concern.

2:42pm 1/5/2026 Info Leelanau Twp., Caller would like it noted that she is concerned about a subject, she did not see him doing anything specifically illegal today, he is just walking around and it makes her uneasy.

5:00am 1/6/2026 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Caller reporting he was assaulted. 

7:42pm 1/6/2026 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Female screaming that she was left on the side of the road and someone took her car. 

12:34pm 1/7/2026 Info Cedar, Caller hit a water puddle and almost hit a parked car– thinks people are protesting too close to the road. Seeing them now, they are well off the roadway, no issues. 

9:23am 1/8/2026 Animal Control Maple City, Black dog was running down the roadway.

3:42pm 1/9/2026 Suspicious Person Leelanau Twp., Caller advised an individual is walking back and forth in front of her house. 

5:11am 1/10/2026 Suspicious Vehicle Leland, Pickup truck, possibly in the ditch, seems to have been there all night but now the lights are on and music is playing. 

10:06am 1/10/2026 Suspicious Incident Lake Leelnanau, Caller reports that the cable to the satellite dish on her roof was cut by someone with a tool.

11:13am 1/11/2026 Suspicious Incident Leland Twp., Caller believes that someone banged on the front window last night.

2:14pm 1/11/2026 Info N West-Bay Shore Dr., Resident is worried about snowbanks by his driveway, says they are high and keep him from seeing the road well when he is trying to get onto 22.

3:45pm 1/11/2026 Disorderly Leelanau Cty., County plow truck driver advised a resident got upset with him and where he was putting the snow.
