The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the September 19 to September 24 call reports.

11:58am 9/19/2023 Traffic Violation Cleveland Twp., Caller is with a Fiber Optics contractor, said a Porsche came through his worksite at a high rate of speed. 

1:57pm 9/19/2023 Civil Lake Leelanau, Neighbor putting up posts, they are in an argument about the property line.

7:30am 9/20/2023 Burn Permit Maple City, 4 school bus length of bush to burn. Someone will be out with pile. 

11:40am 9/20/2023 Animal Control Lost Cedar, Report called in about a lost dog. 

5:17pm 9/20/2023 Family Trouble Centerville Twp., Report called in, having dispute with brother.

8:38pm 9/20/2023 Runaway Juvenile Northport, Caller thinks she left after being grounded, thinks someone may have picked her up.

2:37pm 9/21/2023 Citizen Assist Leelanau Cty., Caller hanging an aerial line over the road. 

7:19pm 9/21/2023 Animal Control Bite Kasson Twp., Was bit by neighbor’s dog.

7:29pm 9/21/2023 Suspicious Incident Empire Beach, Caller is reporting that she was at Empire Beach a couple of hours ago, a man there followed her around. 

10:45am 9/22/2023 Larceny Leelanau Twp., Yesterday noticed jewelry missing from her jewelry box, had roofers there last week. Caller will have a list of the items missing and the name of the roofing company when 45-26 arrives.

12:00pm 9/22/2023 Traffic Violation Leelanau Cty., Van was off the road into the woods. 4 males standing around, while there, off-duty trooper said they got out of the woods and are now northbound on Lake Leelanau. Youths returning from Career Tech, chose ditch over vehicle in front of them that was making an improper turn. No injuries, no damage. 

3:20pm 9/22/2023 Larceny S West-Bay Shore Dr., Boat has been parked in a slip at the yacht club, inflatable Kodiak dinghy was pulled up on beach and tied off, engine wasn't on board, now it’s missing from the beach. Caller was not at the yacht club. He said he would be there shortly but he never called back. Closing the call pending further information; boat entered lein as stolen.

4:55pm 9/22/2023 Citizen Assist Northport, Female has driven by “aggressively” and has thrown some things onto her lawn. She just wanted us to be aware of it.

7:00pm 9/22/2023 Trespassing N West-Bay Shore Dr., GTB11 called enroute to an unwanted person at residence, spoke with individual that was here, she will leave and stay with family members. The caller wasn’t here and didn’t want to speak on the phone. 

10:05am 9/23/2023 Animal Control Suttons Bay Twp., 2 bald eagles fighting and landed in neighbor’s yard. 

10:27am 9/23/2023 Found Property Suttons Bay, Found a ring in Suttons Bay near the front porch store. Thursday evening took it to a jeweler who said it has significant value. 45-19 contacted Case Daniels Jewelry in Suttons Bay who said they know the owner. She was contacted and correctly identified the ring. 

12:12am 9/24/2023 Suspicious incident Glen Lake, "The owner of this phone was in a serious” then call was disconnected. No answer on callback or text. Owner texted back - no emergency - rapidsos plots the vehicle moving and not stationary until the individual stopped to text back. 

4:24pm 9/24/2023 Citizen Assist Leelanau Twp., Says he has been notified that he isn’t supposed to be driving. He’s not sure why, would like an officer to assist him with the issue.
