The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the January 23 to January 30 call reports.

 

12:03am 1/23/2024 Noise Suttons Bay Twp., Heading to the area for a noise complaint. 

5:37pm 1/23/2024 Citizen Assist Lake Leelanau, Chain on the garage door needs someone to check it, marks on the door where something was pried.

2:16am 1/24/2024 Suspicious Vehicle Northport, Car parked at Northport Marina, looks like it has been there a few days.

2:26pm 1/24/2024 Traffic Violation Lake Leelanau, Subject went across road with snowmobile, did not look– this is an ongoing problem. 

10:16am 1/25/2024 Identity Theft Solon Twp., Received a call from an auditor from SOS said his identity was being used. 

10:44am 1/25/2024 Road Hazard S West-Bay Shore Dr., Dead coyote in the middle of the road. 

11:18am 1/25/2024 Traffic Violation E Traverse Hwy., Every morning around 7:30 while eastbound on M72, a young male driving a black Dodge Charger passes him and others dangerously, going extremely fast and basically causing havoc. Would like the area patrolled.

11:54am 1/25/2024 Citizen Assist E Cherry Bend Rd., Called 911 for a cab.

4:26pm 1/25/2024 Neighbor Bingham Twp., Neighbor plowing snow in his driveway. 

9:25am 1/26/2024 Fire Misc Glen Arbor Twp., Called out by GLF352, attempting to assist a deer that has fallen through the river ice. Deer was able to extricate itself. 

12:36pm 1/26/2024 Animal Control Cleveland Twp., Dog is left out in the morning, midday, and later in the afternoon. It barks continuously. 

10:24pm 1/27/2024 Suspicious Person Leelanau Cty., Unknown male is inside one of the unoccupied buildings on the property.

10:37am 1/28/2024 Animal Control Northport, Large husky, been seen around town for a few days, blue collar with what appears to be chewed through orange leash. 

10:08pm 1/28/2024 Suspicious Incident S West-Bay Shore Dr., Grand Am pulled into caller’s driveway, there were 2 people in the vehicle. They attempted to take his company truck. 

2:47am 1/29/2024 Suspicious Incident E Cherry Bend Rd., Someone is knocking on the door, caller’s truck door is open. 

7:17am 1/29/2024 Citizen Assist E Cherry Bend Rd., Male caller stated a female was knocking on his door.

6:45pm 1/29/2024 Suspicious Incident E Cherry Bend Rd., Caller’s daughter saw a man try to open the window in her bedroom.
