The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the January 30 to February 5 call reports.

1:35pm 1/30/2024 Road Hazard Leelanau Cty., Construction company parking in the road blocking an entire lane of traffic. Per 45-26 this is not a hazard. 

4:46pm 1/30/2024 Larceny Missing Lake Leelanau, Missing 2 handguns that belonged to husband. 

6:28pm 1/30/2024 Animal Control Bingham Twp., Missing beagle wearing a blue collar, no tags, missing since this afternoon. 

9:45am 1/31/2024 Fire Wires Down Leelanau Twp., Walking dog and saw a tree fall into the power lines, they are still up but smoldering. Consumer’s notified, Consumer’s on scene.

11:05am 1/31/2024 Fire Alarm Leelanau Cty., General fire microwave cooking mishap, no emergencies there. 

4:48pm 1/31/2024 Animal Control S Center Hwy., Found a dog, beagle, blue nylon collar. This is the dog from yesterday, “Snoopy”. Caller was called back and given dog owner’s number and will return him.

7:55am 2/1/2024 Motor Vehicle Crash S Center Hwy., Caller hit a guard rail– not drivable. Driver is off the road and waiting for the wrecker that she contacted.

8:50pm 2/1/2024 Break Enter Leelanau Cty., GTBPD got called direct about someone possibly breaking into the house. 

8:40am 2/2/2024 Suspicious Incident E Traverse Hwy., Caller upset an LCSO unit was parked on private property at this location running radar. 

11:07am 2/2/2024 Suspicious Vehicle E Traverse Hwy., Caller is in a private subdivision with no soliciting, and there is a “sketchy” van parked at the entrance of the subdivision and two “sketchy” individuals. They don't appear official for any kind of business, walking around door to door. 

4:42pm 2/2/2024 Alarm Leelanau Twp., Residential Intrusion alarm. Canceled by alarm company and key holder.

10:02am 2/3/2024 Traffic Violation S West-Bay Shore Dr., Escalade with dark windows passing on double yellow. 

10:35pm2/3/2024 Assist Dept Turtle Creek., Admin message from Kalkaska to tribal. A domestic suspect at Turtle Creek. 

1:54am 2/4/2024 Suspicious vehicle N West-Bay Shore Dr., GTB08 called out at Eagletown market with a suspicious vehicle. 

3:50am 2/4/2024 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Hearing voices in her building down the stairs, someone knocked on her door. Caller would like to be seen after the area is checked when it is safe. 

11:40am 2/4/2024 Suspicious Incident N West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller was checking on a property, reported someone shot at him. 

5:58pm 2/4/2024 Neighbor Leelanau Cty., Someone smeared dog feces on her car door and window. 

7:38pm 2/5/2024 Repossession Suttons Bay Twp., Northern asset recovery repo on a vehicle, Hyundai Santa Fe.
