The Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay was one of three grantees announced this week by impact 100 Traverse City. The theatre will receive $120,000 to aid in its efforts of “expanding what’s possible beyond the movie screen with year-round live performances and community programming.”

Notably, this week marked the 10th annual meeting of Impact 100 TC. That organization, which is part of a national nonprofit, pools contributions from hundreds of women in northern Michigan to deliver sizable grants to local nonprofits.

The Bay Community Theatre was one of five finalists for this year’s grant cycle, alongside 5Loaves2Fish Northern Michigan, Friends of the Fife Lake Public Library, Friends of the Betsie Valley Trail, and Michigan Indian Legal Services, Inc. 5Loaves2Fish and Friends of the Fife Lake Public Library also each received $120,000 grants, while the other two finalists were given $3,000 “finalist recognition awards.” The latter micro grant is new this year.

Impact 100 TC reports it has given more than $3 million to local nonprofits over the course of its first decade.
