Board Passes Interim County Administrator Motion
By Craig Manning | July 14, 2026
Lauren Cypher will serve as interim county administrator for Leelanau County “until further board action,” following a unanimous vote of the Board of Commissioners at Tuesday’s executive board meeting. Cypher, who previously served as County Administrator Jim Dyer’s executive assistant, is filling the role in Dyer’s stead while his paid administrative leave stretches on.
Speaking to The Ticker Tuesday afternoon, Dyer said he isn’t sure where he stands currently, in terms of his employment with Leelanau County.
“I honestly don’t know what’s going on, and I really don't know what's going to happen,” Dyer says. “There have been some proposals from some parties as to how we might manage a return. There's been a suggestion that I should resign. Ultimately, [the board] is going to do what they're going to do, and that's going to be it.”
