The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the Sept. 6 to Sept. 13 call reports:

9:01:28am 9/6/2022 Found Property West-Bay Shore, Found a leopard print bag on a job site with a lot of purses and wallets inside.

9:36:26pm 9/6/2022 Larceny Empire, Caller has a stand in front of her home and is short money from the drop box. Believes that someone stole approx. $150 worth of items from their stand.

1:03:12am 9/7/2022 Aggravated Assault W. Lake Michigan Rd., Caller advises that her car died, she is unsure her location; location coming up on RapidSOS. Female suffered from a domestic violence issue. Male subject was running in the woods and headed north.

3:49:54am 9/7/2022 Suspicious Incident Cleveland Twp., West end of Traverse Lake there is a male screaming for help. Subject was on foot. Advised he got separated and lost in the woods. One in custody.

1:17:28pm 9/7/2022 Traumatic Injury W. Northwood Dr., Two bicycles crashed. Priority 1.

3:13:25pm 9/7/2022 Citizen Assist Elmwood Twp., 11-year-old got off at wrong bus stop. Needs to get home. En route to house.

10:22:30pm 9/7/2022 Suspicious Vehicle E. Traverse Hwy., Two male occupants in Mini Cooper. They were practicing driving stick shift.

3:29:22pm 9/8/2022 Animal Welfare Check Haserot Park, Dog in distress. Australian Shephard, panting for one hour. Van is now in the shade, two windows open, windows are insulated and the dog does not appear to be in any distress.

4:39:46pm 9/8/2022 Info E. Duck Lake Rd., Put up political signs at address and they were stolen. States only Republican signs are being stolen.

4:49:51pm 9/8/2022 Suspicious Incident S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller is reporting 2-3 kids drinking beer behind the market, advised they look way too young to be drinking.

11:52:11pm 9/8/2022 Trespassing Suttons Bay, reporting party was leaving work and female was parked by her car and came running up on her and tried to hit her. Someone did intervene, it was the female’s ex, who works there as well.

5:14:23am 9/9/2022 Noise Suttons Bay, There is a private residence next to the vineyard. Caller states he spoke with winery and they assured him that their air cannon is off during the night. There is a residence somewhere near that has started an apple orchard and believes it belongs to them.

7:57:34am 9/9/2022 Grass Fire S. West-Bay Shore Dr., Somebody left a campfire going on the beach and caller can’t put it out.

12:57:13pm 9/9/2022 Structure Fire Suttons Bay, Grease fire can’t get under control; they are evacuating now. Fire is under control.

2:02:41pm 9/9/2022 Water Rescue Good Harbor Beach, Caller watching kiteboarder, he has been down for about 20 minutes. Now have binoculars; he can’t get back to shore, USCG notified. There is a second person in the water without a PDF on who is trying to get to the kiteboarder, and now there is a paddle boarder going out also without a PDF to help the swimmer without a PDF. All persons are out of the water.

5:29:32pm 9/9/2022 Citizen Assist N. Manitou Island Dock, Request Glen Lake boat for a 5-year-old boy with a broken clavicle, child’s dad is a doctor and has evaluated him and he is stable but they need off the island. Ranger 491 on the island is the point of contact for EMS. Back at the dock in Leland.

6:33:17pm 9/10/2022 Missing Person S. Dune Hwy., Dune Climb, Two international students male and a female have been missing since 12:30pm; both 25. Have returned.

6:58:31pm 9/10/2022 Disorderly Peshawbestown, Tribal police received a call from a female who stated two males were yelling curse words at her on the street. Made contact with the two males.

8:30:29pm 9/10/2022 Watercraft Fire S. Marina Village Dr., Single boat, lots of smoke. Making entry onto boat now; fire is out. Per 45-06 boat is unoccupied.

10:45:11pm 9/10/2022 Domestic Leelanau Twp., Caller’s ex got physical with her and she left and is walking towards Northport. No injuries, he shoved her in the camper. Female half in custody for domestic violence.

1:31:39am 9/11/2022 Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile Leland, Caller advises someone stole her golfcart between 11pm and 1am. Not where she left it, she searched the area.

2:22:11pm 9/11/2022 Malicious Destruction of Property Empire Hwy., Six dirt bikers were riding on farmland and then took off in all directions. They destroyed the soybean field as well as some of the dirt roads.

3:36:45pm 9/11/2022 Neighbor Cleveland Twp. Reporting party is having issues with his neighbor again. Caller likes to shoot targets at this house and his neighbor is more of less harassing him every time he shoots his guns, because the neighbor doesn’t like it. Also received a 911 call from the neighbor’s wife, she advised her whole family is distraught over the shooting of guns. She was made aware that he is legally allowed to shoot his guns whenever he wants if he is shooting at targets on his property.

5:47:19am 9/12/2022 Road Hazard S. Solon Rd., Caller is reporting an injured coyote in the middle of the roadway.

12:53:13pm 9/12/2022 Watercraft Capsize S. Manitou Island Bay, Per NPS06, there is a 17' Boston Whaler in Crescent Bay overturned. All persons are safe at their campground and have help enroute. 

2:33:27pm 9/12/2022 Trespassing Cedar Has bird-deterrent speakers in his vineyard that make predatory bird sounds which is allowed under the Michigan Right-to-Farm Act. Someone has cut the wires to the power supply.

6:59:15am 9/13/2022 Traffic Violation S. Lake Leelanau Dr. Driving with brights on behind caller.
