Leelanau Wineries Score Big In San Francisco

Several Leelanau Peninsula wineries were named winners in the recent San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The competition is one of the most highly-regarded competitions, receiving entries from across the country. Aurora Cellars won a Best in Class for its Sauvigon Blanc and Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate won a Best in Class for its Gewurztraminer. Dune Bird won a Double Gold for its Dry Riesling, and Gilchrist Farm Winery won Double Gold for Albarino and Gruner Veltliner. Leelanau Cellars also won Double Golds for its Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Cherries Galore and Chocolate Cherry Dessert.
 
Other winners were:

Amoritas Vineyards, which received  Gold for its 2022 Michigan Chardonnay and Silver for its Pino Grigio, Pinot Blanc and Riesling;

Aurora Cellars for Gruner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc, which received Golds, Silver for its Blaufrankisch, and Bronze for Brut Rose and Pinot Noir;

Bel Lago, which earned Gold for its Riesling Semi-Dry and Silver for its Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay;

Blustone Vineyards, winner of Gold for its Rose and Chardonnay, Silver for Gewurztraminer and Latitude and Bronze for Pinot Noir;

Boathouse Vineyards, which won Silver for Seas the Day, Provemont White, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and Bronze for its Provemont Red, Dry Riesling and Pinot Noir;

Dune Bird, winning Gold for Late Harvest Riesling and Silver for Chardonnay; French Valley, winning Gold for Cloud 9 Fruit and other Sparkling and Silver for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir;

Gilchrist Farm Winery, Silver for Chardonnay;

Good Harbor Vineyards, Gold for Chardonnay, Blanc de Blanc, Albarino and Blanc de Noirs and Bronze for its Pinot Noir Zweigelt;

Leelanau Cellars, which won Gold for its Cold Duck, Silver for Witches Brew Spiced Apple, Summer Sunset, Witches Brew, Blanc de Noir, Brut Sur Lie, and two Winter White Bubbly, and Bronze for Winter White, Festivus Red Blend, Witches Brew Pumpkin Spice and Pinot Grigio;

MAWBY Sparkling Wines, which won Gold for its Chardonnay; Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate, which won Gold for Sauvignon Blanc and Silver for Chardonnay;

Shady Lane Cellar, Gold for its Blaufrankish and Silver for Winter Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Gris;

and Verterra Winery, winner of Gold for Dry Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chaos Sparkling Wine, Silver for Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Late Harvest Vignoles and Late Harvest Riesling, and Bronze for its Brut Sparkling Rose.
