No, Leelanau Sands Casino Is Not Closing Its Doors

Leelanau Sands Casino & Resort, which is owned and operated by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, responded to rumors this week that it would be closing its doors in the near future.
“We have been made aware of a sponsored advertisement circulating on social media falsely claiming that our casino is closing,” Leelanau Sands posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday. “This advertisement is completely false and not affiliated with our organization in any way.”
Shared alongside the post was a photograph of a Facebook ad (pictured), which came from from an account dubbed “Tribal Online.” The ad claims that Leelanau Sands Casino “is officially CLOSING its doors,” before adding: “But the fun doesn’t stop – we’re moving ONLINE!” The ad then encourages customers to “Get your $1500 + 150 Free Spins welcome bonus today,” and to “Play anytime, anywhere” with “instant payouts.” The ad also includes a photo of Leelanau Sands with “closed” banners photoshopped over it – though the image has a noticeable typo in its caption, which says “WE’RE CLOUSING.”
“Please be advised that Leelanau Sands Casino & Lodge remains open and fully operational,” the casino shared. “We encourage guests not to click on, engage with, or share the misleading ad. If you encounter it, please report it directly through Facebook reporting tools. For accurate and up-to-date information, always refer to our official website and verified social media channels. We appreciate your continued trust and support.”
