Omena Bay Country Store Is Now Open

By Emily Tyra | May 27, 2022

The long-loved Omena Bay Country Store is once again open — and whether stepping inside it for the thousandth or first time, patrons will be soaking up the inviting, nostalgic vibes only a 1880s-era general store can give, complete with polished wood floors, charmingly narrow aisles, and a front door that sticks when it wants to.

Management firm The Leathery Company, rehabilitated the historic Omena location and is leasing the entire property to Amy and Kevin Murphy, who also operate New Bohemian Café in Northport.

Amy Murphy shares that they are open from 10am to 6pm every day and adding to their selections almost daily.

“The store was closed for several years, and we know Omena is excited to have a general store again. We're delighted to be here offering beer, wine, liquor and grocery/household essentials. We are currently working on adding coffee and newspapers, and as soon as we are able to get those in the door, we’ll be expanding to earlier hours.”

Befitting a shop by the bay, also find sunscreen, bug spray, and other beach sundries, plus s'mores fixings, and ice cream sandwiches, bars, and push pops in a cooler right by the door.

“We intend to add some grab-and-go premade sandwiches from New Bohemian Cafe, and we now have a selection of nice cheeses and cured sausages and charcuterie-type meats, as well as the pantry staples and treats — like pastas and sauces.”
