The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the October 1 to October 6 call reports.

6:15pm 10/1/2024 Suspicious Vehicle Suttons Bay Twp., Says there is a white Ford pickup truck that has been parked for more than 24 hours in his lot. Concerned for the owner. Let caller know they will attempt to make contact with the owner of vehicle. If a number is not located, contact Grand Traverse for welfare check on subject.

7:30pm 10/1/2024 Burn Permit Suttons Bay Twp., Small campfire, caller will be out with hose.

10:01am 10/2/2024 Larceny Kasson Twp., Trail camera taken from a spot. 

4:41pm 10/2/2024 Citizen Assist S West-Bay Shore Dr., Someone is throwing plant matter in the creek, wants a deputy to take a look, Caller was given number to DNR. 

7:33pm 10/2/2024 Info Leelanau Cty., Caller is reporting her sign was taken from its perch and cut in half. 

8:31pm 10/2/2024 Missing Persons Juvenile Leelanau Cty., Caller’s son is  missing, last saw him Monday morning. 

9:59am 10/3/2024 Suspicious Incident Suttons Bay Twp., Got home yesterday and noticed a back window on an out building has been shattered, nothing seems to be missing but can’t figure out what broke the window, possibly caused by an animal, feathers found inside. 

12:57pm 10/3/2024 Animal Control Leelanau Twp., Caller found a female dog that looks like it's been lost for a while, very skinny, gold retriever with faded red harness, no tags. 

10:33am 10/4/2024 Info Suttons Bay Twp., Caller had political signs stolen from her property. Called back and said her signs were not stolen, they were removed by the road commision due to a right-of-way violation and placed off to the side on her property. 

2:14pm 10/4/2024 Motor Assist Leelanau Cty., 45-27 called out with three vehicles in the roadway. Shooting a GM commercial, SB fire is running traffic control.

5:42pm 10/4/2024 Info E Cherry Bend Rd., Burgundy pickup truck drives by caller’s house everyday around 5:30pm yelling obscenities at them. He does not know who the driver is but he thinks it has to do with the political signs in his front yard. Caller would like this as patrol info because he finds it threatening.

10:52am 10/5/2024 Welfare Check Elmwood Twp., Caller advised there is an elderly gentleman standing on the side of the road with a piece of paper taped to his head and looks to be hitchhiking. Unable to locate.

12:55pm 10/5/2024 Citizen Assist E Traverse Hwy., Persons are all around this interaction holding Trump signs and waving at passing motorists. One of them flipped her off.

9:34am 10/6/2024 Threats Elmwood Twp., Said he went outside and individual threatened to shoot him and his dog. Would like to see an officer.
