The Latest Leelanau County Blotter & 911 Call Report

The Leelanau Ticker is back with a look at the most alarming, offbeat, or otherwise newsworthy calls to the Leelanau Office of Emergency Management/911 dispatch. The following is excerpted from the April 6 to April 11 call reports.

10:00am 4/6/2026 Parking Northport, Truck driver parked in alley sleeping. Caller advised the post office employees and told her to call the police. Out with the truck, he has been moved along.

10:07am 4/6/2026 Motor Vehicle Crash W Traverse Hwy., Caller was traveling eastbound and a gravel truck ran her off the road. 

11:24am 4/7/2026 Road Hazard Leelnaanu Twp., Someone has made a drain path through the gravel portion of the road. 

12:43pm 4/8/2026 Fraud S West-Bay Shore Dr., Caller advised he sent an auction company signed baseball cards and they said they would pay him when they received the cards. Caller sent the cards, however, the company said they did not receive them and are currently auctioning them off. 

5:28am 4/9/2026 Suspicious Incident Leelanau Cty., Female called multiple times but would not give away any info on what was happening. Multiple people in the background that the caller continued talking to instead of telling me what was happening. In the area getting flagged down by someone, nothing that we can really enforce to help her with.

8:42am 4/10/2026 Parking Greilickville, Semi truck with a trailer parked blocking almost an entire lane. There are cones around it, however, it is just around a blind curve and you cannot see when you go around it.

4:05pm 4/10/2026 Suspicious Person Empire Twp., 45-17 called out in front of a shipwreck with a male who looks to be living off his bicycle. 

1:01am 4/11/2026 Suspicious Incident Cedar, Caller reporting loud noises and pieces of heavy equipment operating and now flashing lights.

5:43pm 4/11/2026 Suspicious Incident Maple City, Caller is reporting that he is exercising his constitutional rights and was almost run over by a vehicle.

12:17pm 4/12/2026 Littering Maple City, Caller advised that he is “Installing flood barriers in the county right of way and redirecting water from the country road” and would like an officer to come ticket him.
