
Two Fatalities In Leelanau County Car Accident Saturday

Two individuals died in a motor vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, May 7, in Elmwood Township.
Elmwood Township Fire & Rescue reports that its crews were dispatched to the 9300 block of Cherry Bend Road at Dalzell Road at 1:15pm for an accident involving two vehicles. Four people total were in the accident; two were pronounced deceased on the scene. Extrication was required on both vehicles.
Elmwood Township Fire & Rescue officials say they were assisted by Leland Township Fire & Rescue and Suttons Bay/Bingham Fire & Rescue on scene. When the call was dispatched, ambulances from Leland and Suttons Bay were passing through Elmwood Township, both returning from Munson Medical Center. Based on the severity of the crash, both units offered their assistance.
The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office will release additional information once it completes an investigation.
