USA Today Names Inn at Black Star Farms The Best Wine Country Hotel 2020

Aug. 24, 2020

Suttons Bay's Inn at Black Star Farms was just named Best Wine Country Hotel 2020 as part of the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

A panel of experts partnered with USA Today's 10Best editors to pick the initial nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.

The family-owned inn, which is located on 160 acres in the heart of Leelanau County, and is on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail, clinched a win among competition in notable wine regions across California and Oregon. “The nomination in itself was an extreme honor, and one that shines a spotlight on a tremendous team we are so fortunate to have at our inn,” says Sherri Campbell Fenton, managing owner.

Another Northern Michigan wine county accommodation, Hotel Walloon on Walloon Lake (in the Petoskey Wine Region), placed 5th.

Here's the full list of winners in the category of "Best Wine Country Hotel:"

Inn at Black Star Farms - Suttons Bay, Mich.
Timber Cove Resort - Jenner, Calif.
The Farmhouse at Veritas - Afton, Va.
Carter Creek Winery Resort & Spa - Johnson City, Texas
Hotel Walloon - Walloon Lake, Mich.
Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa - Sonoma, Calif.
Summerwood Inn - Paso Robles, Calif.
Hotel Cheval - Paso Robles, Calif.
Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard - Dundee, Ore.

Campbell Fenton says that guests at the Inn at Black Star Farms enjoy VIP access to the The Winery at Black Star Farms tasting room out the back door of the inn, a nightly hospitality hour, wine in the room, gourmet breakfasts, on-site trails and what she calls good old-fashioned Midwestern hospitality.
