Work Sessions to Start This Week for Leelanau County's 2026 Budget

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners will kick off its budgeting sessions for the 2026 fiscal year starting this week. The calendar of budget work sessions is laid out below. For reference on the typical budget preparation timeline, the county board formally approved the 2025 budget in a late-November meeting last year.

· Tuesday, August 19, at 3pm

· Tuesday, August 26, at 9:30am

· Tuesday, September 2, at 9:30am

· Tuesday, September 9, at 1pm (or 30 minutes following that day’s 9:30am executive board session, whichever is later)

· Tuesday, September 16, at 3pm

· Tuesday, September 23, at 9:30am

· Tuesday, September 30, at 9:30am

· Tuesday, October 7, at 1pm (or 30minutes following that day’s 9:30am executive board session, whichever is later)

· Tuesday, October 14, at 3pm

· Tuesday, October 21, at 11:30am (or immediately following that day’s 10am Brownfield Redevelopment Authority meeting, whichever is later)

All meetings will take place in the Commissioner Meeting Room at the Leelanau County Government Center.
