A Very Lighthouse Christmas Is Dec. 17-19 (Also The Last Weekend Open For 2021)

By Emily Tyra | Dec. 15, 2021

Visit the Grand Traverse Lighthouse decorated for the holidays and open for tours, this coming weekend (Dec. 17-19) only.

Stef Staley, executive director at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum shares with the Leelanau Ticker, “Unfortunately, because of staff shortages, we are only open this Friday through Sunday, which is our last weekend for the year.”

But there’s still time to soak up the sights and sounds of the holidays on the lighthouse grounds. “Outside we will have trees decorated, holiday cutouts and our famous Christmas inflatables,” shares Staley. Inside walk back in time to the 1920s and 1930s, and enjoy a McCormick family holiday self-guided tour — their ancestor was a lighthouse keeper — and the wintry view from the lighthouse tower lookout.

The lighthouse is open Friday 12-3pm; Sat-Sun 10am to 3pm. Admission is $5 per adult; $2 children ages 6–17; and 5 and under are free.

Staley adds, “We will set January-March open dates soon, but not sure what those will be yet.”
