DNR Trades Land With Leelanau Township

Oct. 20, 2026

A Leelanau County parcel was among recent land acquisitions and exchanges by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources:

"This exchange was offered by the applicant, Leelanau Township, to resolve a trespass on DNR-managed land. The Township received 15.32 acres of land to consolidate ownership of the runway area at Woolsey Airport in exchange for 14.41 acres of land along Mud Lake. The acquired land adds public water access for water-based recreation and will be managed as part of the Leelanau State Park."
