LTCF Announces Latest Grants and Scholarship Recipients

The Leelanau Township Community Foundation (LTCF) Board of Trustees approved grants to four organizations in Leelanau County:
Northport Youth Sailing School (NYSS), recipient of a $1,250 grant from the Youth Endowment Fund to provide 5 youth scholarships for full-time Leelanau Township residents to attend the summer 2026 program.
Northport Performing Arts Center (NPAC), recipient of a $1,500 grant from the Youth Endowment Fund to provide 5 youth scholarships for the 2026 summer Kids Musical Theatre Camp for full-time Leelanau Township residents.
Northport Arts Association (NAA), recipient of a $15,000 grant from the General Endowment Fund to provide tuition subsidies to make classes more affordable to Leelanau Township residents.
ShareCare of Leelanau, INC, recipient of a $5,500 grant from the General Endowment Fund to provide funding for specialized programming and community outreach for the ShareCare Memory Café which is a free, monthly gathering for Leelanau County residents living with memory loss and the family members and caregivers who support them.
Upcoming grant application due dates for 2026 are July 1, September 1 and November 1.

Graduates in Leelanau County also received $39,975 in scholarships from twelve funds held by the LTCF.The 2026 Awardees and Scholarships are:
Valerie Glidden of Northport Public School, recipient of the Annette Viger Taber Memorial Scholarship, Sue Hirschfield Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Florence F. Evett Scholarship Fund. Valerie plans to attend Northwestern Michigan College in the fall.
Koen Kruk of Northport Public School, recipient of the Edwin Suddard and Ruth Suddard Kellogg Scholarship Fund. Koen plans to attend Michigan Technological University in the fall.
Cora Speer of Northport Public School, recipient of the Dr. James Kolberg Scholarship fund and the Edwin Suddard and Ruth Suddard Kellogg Scholarship Fund. Cora plans to attend Albion College in the fall.
Desiree Wetherbee of Northport Public School, recipient of the Florence F. Evett Scholarship Fund, Kreig Leabo Memorial Scholarship and the Winfield H. & Grace Song Line Scholarship. Desiree plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall.
Faith Herman of Glen Lake Community Schools, recipient of the Ann Schmittling Memorial Scholarship Fund. Faith plans to attend Northwestern Michigan College in the fall.
William Krusel of St. Mary School, recipient of the George Wrisley & Carolyn Travis Anderson Family Community Endowment Scholarship Fund. William plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall.
Liam McCaw of Glen Lake Community Schools, recipient of the Anson and Ruth Solem Science Scholarship. Liam plans to attend Michigan Technological University in the fall.
Alan Heckl of Northport Public School, a 2nd year recipient of the Florence L. Hanes Scholarship. Alan plans to continue to attend Northwestern Michigan College in the fall.
Dean Hulett of Northport Public School, a 2nd year recipient of the Edwin Suddard and Ruth Suddard Kellogg Scholarship Fund. Dean plans to continue to attend Michigan State University in the fall.
Scholarships from the Northport Promise Fund were awarded to recent graduates Charles Petoskey, Lilly Dean, Valerie Glidden, Koen Kruk, Cora Speer, and Desiree Wetherbee, along with reapplying graduates Laura Christianson and Dean Hulett.
